Virtual Router

Virtual Router is application released a few days ago as beta that makes use of the virtual Wifi options in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Unlike Connectify though it has been released at Codeplex which suggests that the program will remain free even after it has been released in a final version. The program’s interface contains only a few options. The Start Virtual Router button being the most important. This button is only active if the computer uses a supported wireless adapter. Other options include changing the network name, password (recommended as the default password is always the same). Virtual Router uses WPA2 Encryption to provide a solid protection for the wireless network.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 Available for Download

November 11, 2009 1 comment

Windows/Mac/Linux: Less than two weeks after they released the first beta, Mozilla is back with Firefox 3.6 beta 2. This release includes over 190 bug fixes from beta 1, in addition to the already existing performance boosts and support for one-click themes.

You can grab the latest straight from the Firefox beta page; if you’re already using 3.6 beta 1, those 190+ bug fixes seem like they’d be well worth the update.

Again, this is a beta release, so only upgrade if you’re an early adopter willing to deal with some potential bugs. That said, if you’ve been using 3.6 over the last week or so, let’s hear how you’ve liked it so far in the comments.

Turn YouTube Into a Jukebox

November 9, 2009 1 comment

YouTube’s a quick source for hearing the occasional music track here and there. With TubeRadio, you can hunt down music on YouTube more efficiently, and even find entire albums, through a helpful search interface.

Unlike the hunt-and-peck searching you get when you use YouTube’s own search for music that interests you, with TubeRadio you can easily select a whole album and listen to all the tracks. In our test we selected a half dozen albums and only a single song was missing from the entire playlist.
